We are delighted to introduce the sponsor of our new Clapham Mums card: Broomwood, an award-winning group of pre-prep and prep schools based between the green spaces of Clapham and Wandsworth Commons.

If you walk regularly in the area, you’ll notice the distinctive aqua blue and navy uniforms. Children join Broomwood from the age of 3-13 and have use of extensive amenities, from dedicated science labs, music, art and cookery schools to DT and IT suites. This year, Broomwood pupils were awarded 42 scholarships (out of a cohort of 103) to competitive senior schools at 11 or 13+. Popular onward schools include Dulwich, Francis Holland, JAGS, Kings’ Wimbledon, Streatham and Clapham High and Whitgift. Further afield, their pupils regularly win places at Bradfield, Brighton, Charterhouse, Eton College, Harrow and Winchester.

At Broomwood, all children are educated together in Pre-Prep until Year 3 (aged 7). They then move on to single-sex prep schools. Here, they develop at their own pace, taking advantage of specialist teaching and pastoral care. Unlike regular single-sex schools, however, they come together for extension and social activities in a co-educational setting. They belong to the same house system and take part in competitions, sporting, drama, music and creative activities, as well as mixed residential trips. About two thirds of Broomwood pupils move on with confidence to co-ed senior schools.
