Your maternity leave flew by, or it was indeed too short. Your little one has started nursery or is with the nanny/childminder. Or perhaps you’re preparing for it. You’re wondering if it was the right choice. It’s feeling too emotional already. Returning to work after maternity leave can feel overwhelming and like a mixed bag of emotions.
Perhaps you’re eager to engage your mind again in things that are not related to your baby? Or perhaps there’s this nagging sense of guilt?
While childcare and help for the logistical side of things are talked about a lot, we often keep the deeper things for ourselves or only share them with the ones closest to us. Yet, especially if this is your first child, there is so much that has changed. Perhaps your sense of identity has taken on a completely new dimension. Perhaps you’ve discovered a side of yourself that you didn’t know existed before becoming a mum.
Empowering mums and setting them up for success when returning to work after maternity leave is something that InNow Coaching are passionate about.
Fiorenza, the founder of InNow, has been exactly where you are. She had her first child at the end of 2019 and her mat leave was mostly spent in COVID lockdown. Going back to work after that was nothing like it used to be. In 2023, she welcomed her second child. While she reflected a lot during her second mat leave on belonging, matrescence and identity, returning to work this time round was yet again completely different.
InNow have designed a coaching program specifically for moms returning to work:
- Getting personalised 1:1 support to prioritise your needs, clarify aspirations & set appropriate steps to move forward with your goals.
- Designing strategies to delegate, asking for what you need at work & at home, and setting boundaries.
- Feeling calmer in the juggle that is work and parenting a young child.
- Boosting your confidence and overcoming impostor syndrome.
- Feeling like your best self, engaged and at peace with your decisions.
The coaching program typically consists of six 1 hour coaching sessions. It’s important they deep dive into what’s the most important to you.
Client Story: Alicia
Fiorenza recently helped Alicia, a returning to work mom to a 14-month old little one. She was not sure her corporate role would fit her family life and priorities anymore, so she decided to ask her organisation for a 4 days week during her Keep-In-Touch days.
While the request was accepted, when Fiorenza started working with Alicia, she had several concerns. She was worried that working 4 days a week she would never be considered for a promotion and that, in practice, meant having to cram 5 days work into 4, while being paid less. Yet, it was the only way she had found to spend more time with her daughter, which was very important to her.
The first step of Fiorenza’s work together was to look at what a successful 4 days week looked like for Alicia, assessing how different that was from the current situation and what could be done to move towards that. They then looked longer-term, as that was Alicia’s biggest goal and explored possibilities that aligned with her work and life priorities, including that promotion.
At the end of the coaching program, Alicia had gained her confidence back and 8 months later, she did get the promotion she wanted, while working a 4 day week
At the core of InNow is the expertise to meet you exactly where you are and work on your present challenges and goals together.
