Helping bodies through intuition, experience and knowledge since 1997
Based at 151 Clapham Hight Street, Osteopath, Sports Therapist and family man Barry McVeigh treats a whole spectrum of adult muscle and joint conditions, from his well-located clinic at the Light Centre.
A personable, empathic and somewhat refreshing approach to osteopathy, Barry is known for his capability to interpret the body and its problems within minutes of a consultation. Considered and thorough, Barry both listens to his patients and observes their whole bodies to best diagnose the underlying problem; before exacting where he needs to start his healing. Barry came to the complimentary therapy of Osteopathy 15 years ago, but has been treating people for over 25 years through Sports Therapy, alongside working as a Personal Trainer. He found he connected with Osteopathy in such a way, that he felt compelled to complete a BSc Hons in Osteopathy, from the London School of Osteopathy, graduating in 2010. After 3 years working as an Associate for an Osteopathy clinic in the heart of Singapore, Barry returned to England with a wealth of experience of working in a fast-paced clinic, and based himself back in his favourite spot, London.
The Importance of Movement as a Parent
As a hands-on father of two young humans, Barry not only understands, but appreciates the importance of being able to move both safely and comfortably around our children. Our bodies allow us to conduct daily tasks with our children and through our bodies, we communicate with them. We give little thought to our bodies being able to just ‘work’ how we want them to, whether that’s changing our child’s nappy or getting our child in and out of the car, but it’s through these fundamental actions that we facilitate family wellbeing. Children demand a lot from our bodies and when our bodies aren’t performing how they ought to, we can feel wretched, worn down even; because if our bodies aren’t working to their optimum, then all of a sudden, our parenting abilities are compromised.
Barry has spent some time working alongside expectant mothers, helping to ease restricted joints and muscle tension. The body is in the midst of changing to accommodate your baby’s growth, and that can affect the body in a number of ways. Whilst some mums-to-be may just require a couple of sessions to gain comfort once more, others may want to book in more regularly in the run up to their impending arrival.
Backaches, shoulder stiffness, sciatica, pulled muscles, the Moving Body Clinic sees each and every one of these problems, and many more.
If you’re searching to actually “be seen” as it were, search no more as Barry McVeigh’s clinic ensure he takes the time to understand what your body is trying to communicate to you.
