Spring Term Classes


We have created a list of classes that are for babies, toddlers, and older children. We have everything from sports to art and craft, coding to dance, and everything in between! Please check the website for exact dates.

We are covering a lot of different types of classes so we have broken it down into categories:

  1. Music, Dance & Drama

Amanda’s Action Club

Age: For babies from 4 months to 4 years

Location: Skylark Cafe, Wandsworth Common

Description: Amanda’s Action Club is a unique and stimulating sensory extravaganza for children. Amanda teaches children letters, numbers, colours, shapes and sounds, as well as self care, self confidence and independence. Using their own modern nursery rhymes and action bags full of props, they provide endless interactive activities.



Baby Sensory

Age: For babies from birth to 13 months

Locations: Balham Scout Centre and Clapham Methodist Church

Description: The classes assist with early learning and development through a variety of activities including: signing, massage, light shows, brain games, messy play, songs and puppet shows. These activities aim to build up a variety of sensory experiences using sight, sound, touch, smell and even taste!



Butterfly Ballet

Age: For children from 2.5 years

Location: Fresh Ground

Description: The weekly classes introduce your child to ballet training in an imaginative and creative way. For children over the age of 5, the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus is taught and children can prepare and take the RAD examinations.



Emily’s Ensemble

Age: For babies from 3 months to 4 years

Location: Fresh Ground

Description: Emily’s Ensemble provides music and movement classes for babies, toddler and preschoolers. Emily feels it’s so important for little ones from such an early to be able to express themselves through singing, dancing and music.



Fancy Footwork

Age: For children from 18 months

Locations: Fresh Ground; St Luke’s Community Hall; Belleville School – Webbs Road; Belleville School – Meteor Street; Oliver House; Oasis School; Oak Lodge

Description: Fancy Footwork Dance Academy runs courses for students as young as 18 months to adults. It’s a dance school in the traditional sense, with a real community feel where long-term friendships are forged. At age 3, children have the option to study Ballet, Tap & Modern Dance at drop-off sessions.



Funky Monkey Keyboard Lessons – Read Clapham Mums article

Age: For children between 4 to 9 years

Locations: Fresh Ground and Rutherford House School

Description: Funky Monkey Keyboard Classes are designed to provide a comprehensive and stimulating introduction to keyboard/ piano skills, offering an ideal starting point for a child when he/she isn’t ready for individual lessons. The classes provide a stimulating balance of listening, playing, writing and performing music with the use of electronic keyboards and other fun props.



Lucie Ashley Dance – Read Clapham Mums Article

Age: For children from 2 years

Locations: St. Barnabas Church, Clapham Common Northside and St. Michael’s Church, Cobham Close

Description: Lucie Ashley Dance offer Royal Academy of Dance syllabus ballet classes in a friendly and professional environment. Fun movement classes are available for pre-schoolers, building confidence, coordination and introducing them to the wonderful world of ballet.



Mini Mozart– Read Clapham Mums article 

Age: From babies from birth to 4 years

Locations: Fresh Ground, 68 Battersea Rise, London SW11 1EQ and Trinity Road Chapel London SW17 7HW

Description: Mini Mozart offers fun and interactive live music classes for toddlers and babies. The classes feature two or more live instruments; a clarinet, violin, flute, French horn, saxophone or trumpet with a piano accompanist.

Monkey Music – Read Clapham Mums article

Age: From babies from 3 months to 4 years

Locations: Broomwood Church Hall, Contact Centre, Life Tabernacle Church, Fresh Ground, Northcote Library, Balham Library Hall

Description: Every class is an adventure with action songs and rhymes, musical games, fun with percussion instruments and music and movement. The classes are fun but there’s a serious side too in that they provide huge benefits in the cognitive and social development of young babies and children.

Tin Pan Annie

Age: From babies from 4 months to 5 years

Locations: St Lukes, Ramsden Road and St Barnabas, Clapham Common Northside

Description: The fun-filled music classes accompanied by guitar are truly interactive and children soon learn the cues to dance, fill in the missing word in a song, expertly accompany songs with percussion instruments, and when to sit down and listen. There’s a theme for each class, for example ‘garden’ and the songs, rhymes, props and pictures all relate to that theme, reinforcing learning and ensuring the session hangs together.

Eve & Grace Children Yoga

Age: For children from 3 years

Location: Eve & Grace 103E Lavender Hill, Sw11 5QL


Description: A fun Yoga Term Course, specialising in sharing yoga and meditation with children. Music, games, as well as other tools and activities, will help the children focus their minds and stretch their bodies while having fun.This is an intimate class with no more than 6 children.




Age: For children between 6 months to 5 years

Location: GF Alexander House, 155 Merton Road, London SW18 5EQ.

Description: Classes feature songs, bubbles and parachute time, and much more. Gymboree Play & Music classes help children build strength, co-ordination, social skills and early language skills.



Julian Cousins Tennis

Age: For children from 4 years

Location: Balham Leisure Centre


Description: Julian runs classes at Clapham Common Westside for children aged four upwards. The classes are grouped by age with Mini tennis Red to Orange 4 – 7 years and 8 – 9 years.



Little Foxes Club

Age: For children between 18 months to 11 years

Location: Battersea Park

Description: Pre-school toddler and school children’s football classes have been specifically designed for the age bands and corresponding developmental level of the groups of children. Their football classes work in harmony and enhance the child’s natural development, using fun games and challenging activities to teach basic skills.



Open Air Fit

Age: 2 to 14 years

Location: Wandsworth Common in the Dog Free Zone (the fenced off area next to the Skylark Cafe by Dorlcote Road).

Description: Drop in football for children from 2 years to 14 years The kids are all split down into age groups so they’re working alongside others of a similar ability.

Mini Fit for pre-nursery children – Mini Fit classes provide structured physical activity sessions for pre-nursery children that give them the chance to develop movement and key skills through large-muscle activities. These help to build strong bones and muscles, improve social and emotional skills, and supports their ability to learn new concepts.




Age: For children between 2 to 8 years

Locations: Latchmere Leisure Centre and Balham Leisure Centre

Description: Playball classes help children develop fundamental building blocks of sport, agility balance and coordination, as well as the three key elements of physical fitness – endurance, strength and flexibility. Children are also introduced to a range of different sports skills for tennis, cricket, hockey, rugby, football, basketball, baseball and volleyball.



Puddle Ducks Swimming Lessons – Read Clapham Mums article

Age: For babies from birth to 5 years

Description: Puddle Ducks offers your baby a unique sensory experience and develops confidence in the water that lasts a lifetime, as well as truly magical one-to-one time for you and your new bundle of joy. The baby-led swimming approach ensures that your child’s needs are expertly fulfilled – never forcing development, but rather nurturing it to ensure a positive experience and love of swimming.

Try Time Kids Rugby – Read Clapham Mums article

Age: For children between 2 to 7 years

Location: Battersea Park near Albert Car Park, off Albert Bridge Road

Description: Try Time Kids Rugby are passionate about getting children running around outside whatever the weather, being active, having loads of fun and learning valuable, lifelong skills. Kids rugby also teaches all the wonderful, wholesome principles like teamwork, respect, discipline and a bit of healthy competition!



Water Babies

Age: For babies from birth

Description: Water babies invest heavily in making sure their classes are the safest, most progressive, most sociable and most expert programme around. Classes are kept small and the fun, relaxed atmosphere creates a sense of camaraderie within the group, with carers – and children – often socialising together afterwards.



  1. Messy Play and Creative Craft

Artful Toddler

Age: For children 12 months to 6 years

Description: Artful Toddler gives children from 12 months upwards the opportunity to express themselves through Arts and Crafts in a safe and friendly environment. Children love to get tactile with the different materials such as paint, clay and papier-mâché, and they are encouraged to get messy while they experiment.



Build it workshop

Age: For children from 16 months

Description: In this technological age are young children get enough opportunity to construct, build and make? Build-it workshops set to redress the balance.The classes “teach” by utilizing hands-on methods where the children themselves learn to be independent, creative and innovative.



Clapham Pottery

Age: For children from 6 years

Description: Children are taught how to make and decorate unique pieces, using a range of pottery techniques. They are encouraged to work from their own ideas by trained pottery tutors who have worked with children for many years.



Happy Tots Playgroup – Read Clapham Mums article

Age: For children under 5 years

Location: Fresh Ground , 68 Battersea Rise, London SW11 1EQ

Price: £6 per session for first child, £3 per additional child.

The play group offers a wide range of activities for children- arts and crafts, soft play, games, dress up clothes, messy play, early learning development, and much more. There are walkers, tricycles, buggies, ball pit, and a wide range of books. There are fruits, crackers and breadsticks for the children to snack while they play.



Picassos in the Park

Age: For children 5 – 10 years

Location: Skylark Cafe, Wandsworth Common


Description: A new after school class at Skylark Café, Wandsworth Common, the sessions are perfect for all young creatives aged 5-10 years and will draw inspiration from a wide spectrum of art history and iconic artists from Monet to Warhol.

Play with Clay

Age: For children from 6 years

Description: A really fun (and sometimes messy) way to spend a Saturday morning! The children are encouraged to use their own imaginations, as well as being given stimulating ideas for projects involving different techniques.

MAMA Codes – Read Clapham Mums Article

Age: For girls and boys from 3 to 8 years

Locations: St. Barnabas Church, Clapham Common Northside and Contact Centre, Narbonne Avenue, Clapham


Description: is on a mission to start all young children on their coding journey and give every young child the confidence and ability to code. They run creative code clubs for children by introducing coding through song, rhyme and storytelling using ScratchJr.



Nanos Spanish

Age: 1 to 3 years old

Locations: Earlsfield Library; St Luke’s hall, Ramsden Road; Mansel Centre, Wimbledon

Description: Nanos Spanish offer classes for toddlers and pre schoolers in the SW London area as well as great online resources to learn Spanish at home. Classes are very active, introducing a second language through games and songs. With mascot Nano parents and children can start together the amazing journey of learning a new language.
