The Skylark Café is a family-friendly café at the heart of beautiful Wandsworth Common. It is recommended by Time Out and last year was awarded ‘Best Family Friendly Café’ by The Motherhood.
The café is perfectly placed for a morning or afternoon out with the kids, positioned next to the children’s playground, and a short stroll from the duck ponds! You can purchase duck friendly food at the counter, with all proceeds going towards the enhancement of Wandsworth Common.
The Café is light and bright and has two seating areas inside, either side of the counter. It also has a large outside seating area – a great way to enjoy the Common during the summer months. Add to this, the Café has lots of high-chairs and the all-important baby changing facilities. So perfect for a NCT catch up!
A host of entertainment for the kids!
In the ‘Snug’ area of the cafe, there’s a host of entertainment on offer for the kids, including a collection of books and toys, colouring sheets and crayons.
The Café hosts a great variety of children’s clubs. Every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, they host Amanda’s Action Club, Monkey Music, after school art with Picasso in the Park. During the winter months, the café runs a ‘Teatime Disco’ for kids, with the dance teachers from ‘Funky Moves’!
Lessons also take place outside the café. Run by Open Air Fit, All Stars and Try Time, these classes are available for toddler age and above.
Delicious food and drink for all the family!
The Café’s owners are local parents, who revamped the café a few years ago. You will enjoy artisan coffee, fine tea and an imaginative seasonal menu made by the in-house chef, using high quality ingredients.
As well as lots of delicious options for grown-ups, The Skylark Café has a nourishing and tasty kids menu. A great way to refuel your little adventurers after playing in the park or at a class!
Charlie Oppenheim who runs The Skylark Café said “With two young children of our own, we know that finding a healthy meal when you’re out and about is a challenge – especially one that your children will actually eat! So our food for Little Ones is all about tried and tested favourites made with fresh ingredients. We use Clarence Court’s Burford Brown’s for our boiled and scrambled eggs with sourdough toast. We also have Jude’s Ice Cream, which many parents are familiar with and feel happy to give to their children when a treat is needed.”
