The Old School Club

Calling all craft fans! Sewing, knitting, crochet, quilting, knicker-making, basic upholstery and photography classes are just some of the skills you can learn at this new, Battersea-based Craft and Crèche Centre.

The studio offers a programme of daytime weekly courses and one-off sessions, http://www.theoldschoolclub.co.uk/courses-workshops/ and there’s a crèche to help you fit broadening your horizons around being a mum!

The crèche is for babies under 18 months and costs £7 an hour. It’s available during all courses, but it’s advisable to book ahead bookings@theoldschoolclub.co.uk. If you’re lucky enough to have combined a class with your baby’s nap, there’s also space to park the buggy while they sleep and you perfect your skills.

The Old School Club is run by Inma Goodhew, a mother of two, she set up The Old School Club after struggling to find craft courses to enjoy during the day, when she was on maternity leave.

The Old School Club invites local experts such as Mark Anderson (photography), Amanda McGillen (sewing and nursery design) and Emma Kidd (knicker design and making) to take the classes. And some classes, Inma takes herself.

This place is very inviting, so don’t worry if you haven’t got any experience. Part of the ethos is to meet other like-minded mums as well as to learn something creative.

Costs vary from £30 for a one-off simple workshop session and £40 for a sewing course to make a cushion cover, up to £150 for a 4 session photography course.
