Sammy Duder’s Studio

Sammy Duder has to be one of the best places to spend an hour or two with the kids: we just love it. Pick a piece of pottery (plates, mugs, figurines, money boxes, etc) decorate it with your own fair hand, and collect it once it’s been expertly glazed and fired. You pay for the pottery pieces you paint along with a £5 studio fee.

It’s a ‘paint your own pottery’ studio, but Sammy Duder is so much more. Sammy Duder started painting in 2002, immortalising thousands of babies’ footprints and handprints on plates, mugs, clocks and other ceramics. By 2004 she had set up her own mobile service, and by 2007 demand was so high she opened her lovely studio on Webbs Road, just off Northcote Road.

Sammy and her team also do clay imprints, offering a 3D alternative to painted ceramic pieces. And if you are looking for a truly unique memento of your little ones, there’s always the silver fingerprint range: a single fingerprint preserved in silver that can be worn as a necklace, cufflinks, a bracelet charm, or used as a keyring. Prints can be taken from children from 4 months upwards and the charms are priced from £40 upwards.

It’s worth mentioning that the team here are very patient and experienced in dealing with children, delivering quality prints – feet, hands and fingers – from even the wriggliest of babies!

Oh, and if you’re looking for something a bit special for your little one’s birthday, children five years and over can have parties of up to 20 children. It’s usually £15 per child for a two-hour session, with one ceramic item per head.

Sammy Duder is open every day of the week, from 10am till 6pm, opening at 11am (until 6pm) on Sunday.
