In his previous life as a teacher, New Zealander Charlie Round-Turner taught kids of all ages. Now, as a photographer, he has a knack of engaging with all ages to make photo sessions as enjoyable as possible, capturing the best and most natural shots of his subjects.
Charlie has had his work published in magazines and newspapers worldwide, but now concentrates on family, wedding and general commercial photography. He prefers to work on location rather than a more formal studio, favouring a local park, garden or the client’s living room for sessions with a smaller baby.
With young kids it’s less of a formal photo shoot and more like a fun afternoon playing. “I love to capture that magical interaction between child, mood and light to reveal their character and charm,” he says. “As well as interacting with the kids (and adults!), I also stand back at times and capture their natural emotions from a distance.”
Charlie has an Associateship qualification with the British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP) and is a member of the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers (SWPP), with a Licentiateship in weddings.
Costs vary depending upon how many pictures you end up buying, but the basic booking fee for weekday sessions is £100* and a weekend session is £150* (without pictures). The sessions tend to last two to three hours, but Charlie stresses that he is flexible. Alongside pictures to cherish forever, Charlie sells various luxury frames and albums in which to display them.
