Battersea Yoga


Battersea Yoga holds regular Mother and Baby yoga classes at St Vincent’s Church Hall, 36 Altenburg Gardens. Babies are welcome from 12 weeks old to six months and both you and your baby will benefit immensely from these specially constructed classes.

There’s yoga for both of you; post-natal yoga exercises for mum, focusing on strengthening the pelvic floor muscles, re-aligning pelvis and spine and re-building core strength. Baby yoga involves song, movement and yoga postures. And afterwards there are refreshments and snacks and a chance to catch up with other parents, as (hopefully) the little ones fall happily asleep.

And it may even improve baby’s sleep patterns throughout the night. Apparently, baby yoga can help settle the little ones into more regular and calming routines, and we’re even told it can help offer relief for colicky babies.

But the best benefit has to be the time the two of you get to spend together; as your confidence in handling your baby grows, as balance and harmony is reached, as your communication and bonding is enhanced.

You don’t have to wait until baby is born to enjoy the benefits of yoga. Battersea Yoga also offers ongoing 12-week pregnancy courses that can help keep you fit and well throughout your pregnancy.

Yoga is considered by many to be the safest form of exercise during pregnancy and also a great way to prepare yourself for the birth of your child. The classes are suitable for all stages of pregnancy from 14 to 42 weeks.

The classes are held at St Vincent’s every Monday and Wednesday from 11.30am to 12.45pm. It’s £143 for an 11-week term, or £14 to just drop in.  Pregnancy Yoga classes are held on Monday evenings at 6.30pm and Wednesday evenings at 6.30pm and 8pm. They also hold a class at 10am on Saturday mornings. You can join any of the classes at any time, committing to a term if you wish, or just dropping by when you feel the need.
