Ascension Church on Malwood Road is a particularly welcoming and friendly Anglican church that holds a playgroup for toddlers every Thursday. There are two sessions; the first from 9.15am to 10.45 and the second from 11am to 12.30pm.
The toddler sessions are attended by a pretty even split of parents and carers. You pay £2 on arrival and children get the chance to play freely with a multitude of toys including a playhouse, mini trampolines, bikes, cars, a slide, toy kitchen and much more, all in great condition.
About half way through the session hot and cold drinks and a biscuit are available. And for the final 15 minutes or so, everyone sits in a circle to enjoy singing favourite songs and nursery rhymes.
In addition to the regular sessions there’s also occasional special “Toddler Church” events, which you’ll find out about at the church and you are more than welcome to attend.
The church also has a ‘Bumps and Babes’ group. This is for expectant mothers and the mums of newborn babies. They meet once a month, giving you the chance to meet local mums, swap tips and advice and make some new friends.
