If you’re searching for coffee spots in Clapham, it won’t be long before you bump into a Starbucks: there are five of them in the area.
You know what to expect with a Starbucks — they are child-friendly, a good place for mums to meet up, and there are baby-changing facilities available (although no high-chairs).
Staff can provide hot water to warm up milk bottles but there’s no microwave to heat up baby food.
They do really rather good muffins and cakes, with carrot cake, shortbread and chocolate velvet cake some top favourites.
Paninis, sandwiches and salads are all on offer along with the usual range of coffees and teas. If you’ fancy a cold drink, frappuccinos are particularly popular.
The different branches have different things to recommend them; the branch on Abbeville Road is very child-friendly, there’s enough room for a pram or two (once you negotiate the steps), and there’s indoor and outdoor seating.
The Old Town branch is very chilled out, spacious enough for prams and pushchairs and also has outside seating and big windows with lovely views.
The Northcote Road branch is fairly big, with space for pushchairs, which makes it a good place for mums to meet.
Likewise the St John’s Road branch, another big shop, which has a busy, buzzy atmosphere.
The Clapham High Street branch is often very busy and with less space to park prams, so more of a pit-stop if you’re on your own , rather than meeting other mums.
